Since no one took the bait in the other thread....

How do you feel about the new movies and the obviously alternate timeline they have kicked us off on?

How do you feel about them being 'action' movies instead of intellectually provoking stories that make you question human nature?

Talk to me people.

I am ok with them being action movies as long as it still feels like Star Trek. For me neither movie really did that ST2009 wasn't far off but Kirk was too much of a douche(why they do this to him?) and it was a bit too high energy, Into Darkness never felt even a bit like Star Trek to me it felt like a more generic sci fi action movie and Kirk was even more of a douche, sorry I like Chris Pine but ugh...

What about the fact THEY DESTROYED VULCAN?!?

EDIT: Kirk had to be that way. True pioneers are typically regarded as hard ass 'asshole' types if you will. If they were not they would stay at home.

Of course I was wrong once. Once.

That was the time I thought I was wrong then turned out I was right.

The fact they destroyed Vulcan I liked that and I wish they focused on the aftermath of that more in into darkness, perhaps the new TV series will go into more detail of what is going on with the Vulcan race after they lost their planet.

2009 was good enough for me.

Into Darkness was watchable despite it's script, because the performances were great.

Star Trek: Faster and more Furious does not look promising.
