My first action as Governor is to get a report of Versberg's economic situation, what we need what we have an excess of, etc. I'll leave this to my administrative assistant Peter.

My next action will be to gather any military experts I know to form Versberg's militia. Fliers and advertisements will be sent out to inform the populous that the militia is seeking volunteers.

Lastly I will commence a search for buildings or locations suitable for the marine training academy and the office of foreign affairs as outlined in the constitution. (Those buildings have to go somewhere.)

After a quick poll, the situation in Versberg is laid out for you in exactly how desperate and horrible it is. While several of the Rubber Tree farms are still standing, they are tremendously crude, as are the support facilities for them. Right now the people subsist almost entirely off fish. There are some crude roads of pebbles and rocks that the Japanese arranged, but otherwise the infrastructure is non-existent. You lack... almost everything.

There are not many people in Versberg who are particularly well skilled in military manners, though a large number of the populace are willing, they lack any form of skill or training.

Building locations are found (place them wherever, I don't really care) and some basic plans start being drawn up.

The few capable military personnel are instructed to begin to train volunteers. The ones that learn quickly are promoted to help the officers train volunteers.

I'll work with the senate and others to get money to help with infrastructure. in the mean time the rubber tree farms need to be repaired To a point where they are at least producing.

We'll say 1 Turn to get the basic Rubber Farms 1 back to full functioning order (the Japanese left them quite a mess)

OOC: So we'll say turn 1 is spending available construction on a Rubber farm 1 and increasing the strength of Versberg's militia. Does that sound right?

We've removed the usage of actual Improvements (per the stream) but instead we'll say you are focusing on increasing rubber production. This will be expressed as an increase in trade, which depending on how you do your taxes, would also increase your Currency. And yes obviously training up Militia is doable. Do you want to focus on more Militia, or better Militia?

Oh yeah that sounds right, and I think I'll focus on a better militia

Turn 1
Quite a bit of funds that don't exist are burnt on getting the Rubber Farms back up and running to as good as they were during the Japanese Occupation. They could still stand improvements, but at least the rubber trade is back in business. Which is good, if rumors from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is true.

Some locals report that men claiming to be from a company in the United States have been seen scouting the area out recently. They are affable, and mostly seem interested in doing business here.

The Militia has been receiving more training and more discipline as of late, hardening their forces. They are sadly still lacking in proper equipment or infrastructure, but they're a lot better than the unruly mob they used to be.

With the money raised by the purchase of Versberg land, money is spent on trying to improve the infrastructure of Versberg. Also purchasing proper equipment for the improving militia is a priority.

Local Versberg workers are hired to improve the infrastructure and paid with the new Espada given by the national bank.

Turn 2
Time and money is spent on improving the rubber farms and the working conditions thereof, which pushes industry up.  Sadly, finding equipment to buy is proving problematic.  Though a telegram has arrived from an American company stating that, if Versberg is willing to agree to their terms, they will help in supplying Versbergian forces.
The Ministry of Defense has begun construction of a Marine Academy in Versberg.

Volunteers Needed For Spring Festival!

Beginning April 8th and going on until the 15th, a Great Spring Festival will be thrown in Aberisk City. This marks the first time in 9 years that the Spring Harvest Festival will be celebrated in Echain. The Echaini Harvest Festival coincides with the Takayama Spring Festival so it has been decided that both Major Festivals will be merged into one Great Spring Festival.

The Centerpoint of the Festival is a week long competition to  build a wagon float displaying the Culture and History of the Town/City. The entries will be judged based on beauty, complexity, awe factor and spirit. The Festival will include food, games, dances of both old Echain and Japan and will serve as a cultural exchange festival showcasing Echaini Culture to the new Japanese residents and vis versa.

Your Region have been have been invited to join in on the Festival by building a float that represents the Culture and History of your Region please send a group of Volunteers in order to build, operate and pull a wagon float. The only restrictions is that the float must be hand pulled, built to the dimension provided in order to fit on Aberisk city streets, do not use engines, and can be lit up by paper lanterns for the Night Parade on the Last day of the Festival. Everyone is welcome to participate and attend the Festival.

Versberg's turn 4 consists of the following:

-a raise of taxes to 1%.
- Spending currency to improve the overall infrastructure of Versberg. (Focus on Transportation and proper indoor plumbing.)
-making sure to hire Versberg construction workers first and then others if necessary.
- locals are called upon to name roads by committee. Children especially are encouraged to send in their ideas to get everyone energized.
-Advertizing that any Echain companies coming to Versberg that are based here as well as donate to aid the reconstruction efforts Get a tax reduction (Trying to encourage more industry and employment for Versberg.)
-the opening of a people's council which will advise the Governor as to the feelings and needs of the people. Representatives from all major towns will be invited to join and report on the progress of the reconstruction in their area.

Turn 4
Low taxes help keep the people happy, something especially important right now as the people are not doing particularly well. The job of re-constructing the ruined Region is ongoing, and is sapping the newly filled coffers in addition to soaking a lot of manpower. There is progress though. Most notably, work is already well under way on setting up a proper plumbing system across the major cities, and throughout the month work was done on establishing intercity highways. Roads are being repaired too, and some of the more colorful road name ideas include Babysaurus Rd, Teacher Glasses St, and Not A Dog Ave.

With tax programs to encourage companies, several have started looking into setting up shop in Versberg, notably with an eye towards setting up shipping and low industry. As an aside, the American companies that were trying to set up shop in Versberg have since pulled out, and no longer bother you. Also, the Ministry of Defense has temporarily paused construction of the Marines Academy.

The People's Council of Versberg had its first meeting just a few days ago. They gave their report to the Governor about progress, and for the moment have voiced no particular concerns. The biggest problem they had was too many volunteers for the Council.

Turn 5:

-maintaining taxes at their current level
-continuing infrastructure construction (Roads, re-construction, plumbing, etc.)
-put out more advertising for companies to set themselves up in Versberg and invest.
-seeks a report from the people's council to guide the governor for the following month.

17 Re: Region of Versberg on Tue Feb 21, 2017 7:26 pm

Turn 5
More money is dumped into infrastructure, notably roads, water, and plumbing. This is ongoing and will take several more months.

Several companies pack up and move from Plainsdale and Central into Versberg, enticed by the incentives.

The People's Council has begun insisting that Versberg push for a position of strength regardless of the other Regions. Further, they also have put forth a formal petition to the Governor to legally remove all of the Japanese currently living on the island, by force if necessary.

18 Re: Region of Versberg on Mon Feb 27, 2017 11:00 am

Turn 6
-continue to build/improve infrastructure like previous months
-maintain taxes at their current level
-seek a report from the people's council and assure them that Versberg will take a position of strength shortly

View user profile

19 Re: Region of Versberg on Sat Mar 04, 2017 9:10 am

Turn 6
Work continues on the road network and the plumbing project, and is still being fully funded.
The People's Council meets and begins debating the possibility of expanding Echain to other islands and nations through diplomacy or military force in an attempt to garner increased riches for Echain itself. The overall feeling on this idea is overwhelmingly positive.

20 Re: Region of Versberg on Tue Mar 14, 2017 4:02 pm

Turn 7
-continue infrastructure
-increase tariffs by 1% as a preliminary measure to fund infrastructure, and market it as such
-seek a report from the people's council

View user profile

21 Re: Region of Versberg on Tue Mar 14, 2017 7:08 pm

Turn 7
Tariffs are increased, though have no significant effect on morale.

Work on the roads and trails is as good as it is getting for now. A significantly larger overhaul would be required to improve them further. Internal traffic is far smoother and easier than it's been in over a decade.

Proper plumbing for drinking, utility, and sewage has been set up in all the major cities in Versberg. While it will cost some money to maintain, it has significantly increased the local morale.

The People's Council has been lobbied by several special interest groups throughout the Region and is now petitioning the Governor for the possibility of bloodless, legal secession from the Echain Republic.

22 Re: Region of Versberg on Wed Mar 15, 2017 9:27 pm

Throughout the week a group calling themselves the Echaini Historical Society begin promoting the Harvest Moon Festival in every region. Their message is one of peace and friendship between all Echaini even if siblings decide to go their separate ways, they need not leave on bad terms and can still stay brothers. The society is attempting recreate the "Great Harvest Hot Pot" an age old tradition dating back to the dawn of the nation where the population of Echain numbered in the hundreds and it was truly possible for an entire country to share one single meal. Since it is impossible for anyone to cook for over 4 million people in a pot massive enough to do so, the society instead proposes to gather 1 ingredient from each Region and recreate the same Hot Pot 9 times in each Capital. Each Region is encouraged to add more ingredients to their own Hot Pot so that it would be enough for everyone to get a serving. The Society is super optimistic and expects that this would catch on to about 100 people a Region.

Turn 8:
-Advertise the sale of Rubber to interested parties abroad
-Begin Distribution of fliers throughout the region telling people to talk to their local member of the council about secession.
-personally go around Versberg and talk to local people about their opinion on secession and other things.
-begin the production of Offical Versberg Regional Flags, a simple Green and Gold background with a Sword through the middle.  The sword has the words "fortitudinem per voluntatem" (Latin for ,Strength through Will.) on the Blade. This was the Flag of Versberg during the Revolution.
-Also advertise the Rally Governor Alexander is planning in city Central as a platform to express ideas about secession, for or against.
