My theory on the Old Gods

1 My theory on the Old Gods on Fri May 22, 2015 6:09 pm

I came up with theory that the Old Gods weren't gods at all, but were actually very ancient and highly intelligent dragons, the highest tier of their kind. I believe that by the time they enthralled the Tevinter Imperium they were already very ancient and at the peak of their prime, and that their titles as Old Gods were actually aspects of their own individual abilities and skill sets. I also believe they all originally had the ability to enthrall other people with their "Song" long before they were cast underground and eventually turned into Archdemons. As an effect of their immense power and knowledge that they had at the time, they were revered as "Gods" by the Tevinter, in keeping with the theme of mortals revering those that seem greater and more powerful than themselves (reminds me of the whole Geth heretics reverence of the Reapers from ME). Now whether or not the tale of them persuading the 7 Magisters and them actually breaching the Golden City has any credence at all remains to be seen, as well of what the Old Gods goals were with such a plan.
