1 Your First Game ever on Sat May 23, 2015 9:24 pm

So this idea came to me on the stream, and basically people share his/her first game they ever played, and whoever is willing should add some thoughts about it Smile

I'm not sure which of these was the actual first for me, so I'll just list the likely suspects:

- a handheld Tetris (or 'BRICK GAME', as the packaging insisted);
- a couple of handheld soviet knock offs of earilier Nintendo games (not sure how it's properly called, but it involved a bunch of objects coming towards the player via four routes with different speeds you needed to either shoot or catch in order to not lose a life);
- a tamagochi;
- some SNES games I've seen and played at neighbours' houses like the first Contra and Mario, TMNT 2 and 3, Duck Hunt, ports of Pac-Man, Alien Invaders and such and a bunch of other things I don't remember all that well anymore.

My first SEGA Megadrive II game was either Street Rage, Cannon Fodder or Shining Force I (I didn't suspect Fire Emblem's existence at the time too :V).

My first PC game was either one of the MS-DOS games of ex-USSR make like Lines, Nine, Battleships (or however the pen-and-paper game of guesstimating the enemy fleet's position is called), the MS-DOS port of Golden Axe II, LHX helicopter simulator and some FPSes like Wolfenstein 3D, Heretic and Hexen.

Maybe. I'm not sure in which order I got introduced into all this.

Mine would be Commander Keen 4.

Still a game I like to play every now and again. My favorite in the series is 6, though.

super metroid, super mario world, (snes),
Mario bros 3, turtles, (nes),
Day of the tentacle, syndicate, x-com terror from the deep, (pc).

I think it was either crash bandicoot 1 or 2, but I do treasure 2 a lot more.
It was bright and colorful with an art style that fits with the low polygon graphics, the controls were tight and the levels varied in terms of both visuals and gameplay. The music stood out especially as it used a lot of unconventional instruments and foley to make up it's sound track.
It's still one of my favorite platformers even if other games like Mario 3D world are technically better.

First game I played was Toki for the NES back in 1991 when I was four. I was playing it at my big cousin's house during a certain family occassion and I beat the first level and boss in front of my family members. I received praise from them when I landed that last hit on the first boss and I have never forgotten that. I sucked hard in the next level which was a swimming level but still that game opened me up to video games.

Bomberman on Commodore? Not sure but the game that really started it for me was Devil May Cry on PS2. Replayed that atleast hundreds of times.

My first game, ever, was some reading game on the Apple IIE. I think it was called "Reader Rabbit," or something like that.

My first "real" game was probably Microsoft Flight Simulator '95, or MegaRace, I can't remember.
First console game was Super Mario World on the SNES.

Centipede, on the Atari 2600.

That was way back in 1986, but for years that was the only game we had for the 2600. The console spent most of the time in the attic, until around 1991-92, when I got a glut of relatively cheap games from the market.

In 1993 I got a Sega Megadrive with Sonic the Hedgehog, which is what I've always thought to be my first "proper" videogame system.

It was a 2600 game but I am not sure which one I played first. I had defender, pacman, missile command, kaboom, centipede, space invaders and of course, combat. It was amazing to move the images on the screen, but I got tired of playing these games very quickly. I would barely call these video games, they were more like a toy or novelty really. The first time I truly got hooked on a game was on the 800XL, I beat Zorro and felt very proud of myself.

Sonic for the Master System, thought Star Wars cut second place by a matter of minutes, so maybe it's tied.

I was so young to be 100% sure since I was 3-4, but I think it was Tron Deadly Discs for the Atari.
