CPU: Intel Core i5-4690K Processor 3.5 GHz LGA 1150 BX80646I54690K

Cooler: Cooler Master V8 GTS - High Performance CPU Cooler with Horizontal Vapor Chamber and 8 Heatpipes (I know it's ridiculous but I need dis!)

GPU: MSI GeForce 4GB 256-Bit GDDR5 Graphics Card (GTX 970 GAMING 4G)

RAM: Corsair Vengeance Pro 16GB 2x8GB DDR3 2400MHz PC3 19200 Desktop, Red CMY16GX3M2A2400C11R

PSU: Corsair Professional Series 760 Watt ATX/EPS Modular 80 PLUS Platinum Power Supply AX760

Sound: Creative Sound Blaster Zx PCIe Gaming Sound Card with High Performance Headphone Amp and Desktop Audio Control Module (Not necessary but I am an audiophile)

SSD: Intel 730 SERIES 2.5-Inch 240 GB Internal Solid State Drive SSDSC2BP240G4R5

HDD: WD Black 4TB Performance Desktop Hard Drive: 3.5-inch, SATA 6 Gb/s, 7200 RPM, 64MB Cache WD4003FZEX

Fans: (Not for sure what I need here)

Corsair Air Series SP120 High Performance Edition Twin Pack Fan (CO-9050008-WW)
Corsair Air Series AF140 Quiet Edition Single Fan (CO-9050009-WW)
Corsair Air Series AF120 LED Quiet Edition High Airflow Fan Twin Pack - Red (CO-9050016-RLED)

Disc Drive: SAMSUNG TSST SE-506CB/RSBD 6X USB 2.0 Slim Blu-ray Writer External Drive (Black), M-Disc (Needs to be external since the H440 doesn't have a slot)

Monitor: ASUS VG248QE 24" Full HD 1920x1080 TN 144Hz 1ms DisplayPort HDMI DVI-D Ergonomic Back-lit LED Gaming Monitor

Speakers: Logitech Surround Sound Speakers Z506

Do I need some zip ties, or any thermal paste?

Thanks for taking a look. If you can't tell I am going for a red black build any recommendations, or critiques are welcome!

If you can get a good headset, I'd recommend it. That being said, I've used the monitor you've listed, and I can personally vouch for it as being the best monitor I've ever used.

Thermal paste is only necessary if you're using a different cooler than the one that comes with your CPU, so yes, you need it. And as for zip ties, it's important to have a clean looking system (which also helps with airflow), so they're also a VERY good idea, though not entirely necessary.

EDIT: I noticed that you are also buying speakers. If you use that monitor with a DisplayPort cable (the best and easiest way to do 144hz) or an HDMI cable (which only goes up to 60hz), you will already have sound coming from the built-in speakers. Surround sound speakers aren't really necessary if you've got some good headphones, either.

my modular power supply came with tons of zip ties your likely ok there. I have the same graphics card its a great card but i believe the R9 290/390 cards are slightly better or just as good for less cash I'll look into it and edit this after i do.

***edit Yup the 390 is slightly better for slightly less cash.

Arctic Silver thermal paste. And yes on the zip ties. You will need to do some cable management to make sure air flows with minimal obstruction.

Noticed you got the Zx Sound Card.. why not drop a additional $100 on the ZxR?
On headphones.. if you wanna cheap out a bit on them.. get Sennheiser 518s.
Don't EVER buy a headset. You'll have a bad time. If you are in need of a mic, get a Modmic. It's $50, and me and Samurai can attest to it's quality.

As with any build, I always ask the questions:

What is the end goal? Gaming machine, rendering, just surfing the web (lol).

What is your budget?

After we figure those two things out, we'll be able to provide better suggestions.
